Monocoque Road Bikes
Monocoque is a construction technique that supports structural load by using an
object's external skin, as opposed to using an internal frame that is then covered with a non-load-bearing skin. Monocoque bicycle frames are uncommon and usually made from carbon fiber or sheet aluminium. Some bike manufacturers claim monobox technology allows them to create a strong,
stiff transition from the bottom bracket to the chain stays, which results in an excellent power transfer to the rear wheel without adding extra
weight to the bottom bracket area. Bike manufacturers that make monocoque framesets include Bottecchia, Louis Garneau, Eddy Merckx, Kestrel and Scapin.
